About Me.
My name is Jacob Francis Scott Gavin and I am an illustrator with a concentration in comics. Ever since I was a child, illustration was always a big passion of mine. My earliest influences came from newspaper comics, such as Calvin and Hobbes, Garfield, Get Fuzzy and Peanuts. As time went on, further influences came from a wide range of mediums such as graphic novels, video games, and animation. All of these came together to mold the artistic sensibilities that continue to cultivate to this day. From rich, immersive worlds to emotionally resonant stories to enduring, relatable characters, my art hopes to inspire a new generation of artists as my influences did for me many years ago.

Education
2010-2013
University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac
This is where I developed the fundamentals and skills to make professional-level art; such as color theory, accurate life drawing, anatomy, art history, and painting. My biggest accomplishment during this part of my education occurred in my final year when the university purchased a painting that I had made as my final project. They would go on to put it up as decoration for the building.
2013-2016
Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Entertainment Design with a Concentration in Comics and Sequential Art
University of Wisconsin-Stout
This is where I concentrated my studies into comics illustration. Skills that developed during this time include creative writing, design drawing, comics creation, and graphic design. My biggest accomplishment during this time was creating my final project; a 73-page graphic novella called "The Boy Who Loved the Swings".
